CNC Machining is a manufacturing process that involves the use of computers to control machine tools. Tools that can be controlled in this manner include lathes, mills, routers, grinders and lasers. The CNC in CNC Machining stands for Computer Numerical Control.
Additive Manufacturing is a manufacturing process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up a component part in layers by depositing material. The term "3D printing" is increasingly used as a synonym for Additive Manufacturing.
Yes, SyncFab has access to a network of additional manufacturing resources which it plans to make accessible to supply chain buyers in the near future. Announcements will be forthcoming.
Advanced manufacturing is the use of innovative technologies and methodologies for improved competitiveness in overall manufacturing. Advanced Manufacturing collectively represents cross-applications of 3d printing (additive) and traditional (subtractive) manufacturing, CADCAM, robotic automation, logistics, artificial intelligence, autonomous shipping, nanotechnology, materials science, energy storage, and quantum computing. Synchronized Fabrication or “SyncFab” is a reference to the synchronization of those parts of modern advanced manufacturing making local industry more accessible to innovative hardware companies and more sustainable and eco-conscious. Similar to a smartphone, a “Smart Factory,” or Smart manufacturing is a technology-driven approach that utilizes Internet-connected machinery to optimize the production process on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
SyncFab does not currently offer design or engineering services.
If you are not a Machine Shop or Supply Chain Account Manager you may still be a Designer, Engineer, Entrepreneur, Government Procurement (GSA) Employee or alternate Manufacturing service supplier interested in our Sourcing Events in which case you should still Register as a Buyer. If you are a Machine Shop that procures from other Shops then you may request to register a dual-use account.

Buyer Questions

Am I a Buyer?
A Buyer is generally a Supply Chain Account Manager, Designer or Engineer though you may also be an Entrepreneur, Investor, Government Procurement (GSA) Employee, Fab Lab Manager or a Student. Learn More
Register as a Buyer to submit orders with 2D/3D part files including drawings, dimensions & tolerances (designed-for-manufacture) and receive quotes inclusive of fabrication and materials. Uploaded part files are stored in your user dashboard where you can manage and group them for faster project turnaround.
Parts can be ordered on an Urgent (1-2 weeks), Standard (3-4 weeks) or Flexible (5-8 weeks) schedule which will affect production cost accordingly. Delivery costs are paid at time of shipment.
Limited and Full-Run production parts orders involve photographic sample pre-production approval. Prototype parts orders do not involve pre-production approval.
Materials include but are not limited to most grades of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, thermoplastics and wood.
Unless otherwise noted in your Quote, suppliers will work to achieve and hold the minimum following standards:
  • +.005”/-.005” local tolerances across most geometries with variance for large parts when holding flatness after heat treatment.
  • Finish requirements for “As Milled” finish will have a minimum 125 surface finish for CNC parts.
  • Tapped holes not explicitly called out as Features on the quoted CAD model may be machined to the diameters specified in that model.
  • No surface treatments (e.g. anodize, bead blast, iridite, powder coat, etc.) will be applied unless you have paid for them and we have specifically acknowledged them.

SyncFab reduces supplier vetting cutting production time by 75% on average, while simultaneously reducing the soft costs associated with procurement. By leveraging idle machine time from local shops, SyncFab streamlines pricing to produce your parts. You can also take peace of mind knowing you are supporting the buildout in some cases the rebuilding of a local sustainable manufacturing supply chain.

Supplier Questions

Am I a Supplier?
If you use machine and cutting tools to make parts, usually of metal, plastic, glass or wood then you meet the general definition of a machine shop supplier. Learn More
Register and list your machining capacity, capabilities and certifications after completing your company profile. You will need to certify that you are able to achieve the minimum manufacturing standards of:
  • +.005”/-.005” local tolerances across most geometries with variance for large parts when holding flatness after heat treatment.
  • Finish requirements for “As Milled” finish will have a minimum 125 surface finish for CNC parts.
  • Tapped holes not explicitly called out as Features on the quoted CAD model may be machined to the diameters specified in that model.
  • Specifically list out surface treatments available such as anodize, bead blast, iridite, powder coat, etc.
After your Registered account has been reviewed and activated you will begin receiving job requests matching your capabilities.
You will be paid a deposit to begin those orders you accept and the balance on approved completion. ACH payment can be wired direcly to your bank account or check payment can be arranged as well.
Urgent, Standard and Flexible from 1 – 8 weeks.
Limited and Full-Run Production parts orders involve photographic sample pre-production approval. Full-run production parts orders involve physical sample pre-production approval. Prototype parts orders do not involve pre-production approval.
Let your idle machine capacity earn you more sales dollars. By listing your machines with SyncFab you can focus on doing what you do best machining parts and collecting money.
